Use Your Pantryfy Pantry in ChatGPT, Claude or Another AI Assistant

Give your assistant access to recorded groceries, saved recipes and shopping lists, then use that context for a real dinner decision.

You ask an assistant for dinner ideas. It suggests salmon. You have eggs, spinach and half a bag of rice.

Connecting Pantryfy lets your assistant read the groceries you’ve recorded and the recipes you’ve saved. You can keep using the Pantryfy app for shopping and cooking, then bring the same kitchen records into a conversation.

Start with a small, accurate pantry

Add the groceries you want to cook with in Pantryfy. Correct quantities that have changed. A connected assistant reads those records; it can’t see an unrecorded carton of eggs in the fridge.

Follow the assistant setup guide for ChatGPT or Claude. Choose your household and review the requested permissions when you connect.

Ask about tonight’s groceries

Try a question with a clear job:

  • “Which groceries in my Pantryfy pantry have expiry dates in the next seven days?”
  • “Show me saved recipes I can make with my recorded pantry ingredients.”
  • “Read this week’s meal plan and shopping list. Which groceries do I already have?”

Use the results to choose dinner, then open the recipe in Pantryfy when you’re ready to cook. Check the actual groceries if a quantity or date looks wrong.

Read access lets an assistant look up information. Write access allows changes such as updating quantities or adding planned meals. Marking a planned meal cooked deducts its ingredients from pantry stock, so ask for that when the meal is actually cooked.

Other MCP agents can connect too

Any AI agent that supports remote Model Context Protocol (MCP) over Streamable HTTP can connect, provided it supports OAuth or bearer API-key authentication. The server is https://api.pantryfy.ai/mcp/. Available actions depend on the permissions and tools exposed by the connection.

OAuth connections work on Free, Pro and Family within your Pantryfy plan’s limits. Personal API keys require Pro or Family. Your assistant’s own availability and account requirements also apply.

Start with dinner from your pantry ingredients. The connection is useful when it saves you from typing the groceries into every new chat.
